Automotive Photographs: Lexus IS 350 F-Sport
Here is some candid photographs that I took of the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport I test drove during the week of April 15, 2014 to April 22, 2014.
I took these photographs inside the parking area of the Cradlestone Mall in Johannesburg South Africa. The mall is located on the N14 Highway and Hendrik Potgieter Road. This newly developed architectural masterpiece has been developed over two main levels with a third level food court area. Most of the building materials are environmentally friendly in the sense that they are mostly natural materials (sand, stone, etc). Since the structure is obviously also conventional (concrete, bricks and steel) it means that most of the materials are locally manufactured which decreases the carbon footprint.
The idea was to find a place similar to the current Lexus Television Advertisements and to build on the theme, and to produce photographs that will fit into the already perceived theme of Lexus.
One of the things I liked most about the New Lexus IS 350 F-Sport was the Speedometer. The Lexus IS 350 F-Sport Speedometer is a 3D Virtual Computer dashboard display unit, providing a similar look and feel to a real non-computer digital display. The cool thing about the Speedometer is that you can change the computer display and view several of the Lexus Warning Lights and Accessory lights in the display! - It is also possible to view music playing and GPS Navigation right inside the Speedometer display which is super cool!
Above is another "Candid" photograph I took of the Lexus in the Cradelstone Mall, showing the side of the car. I would actually like to go back with better lighting and more time to perfect the photographs taken in the Cradlestone Mall Parking Area.
Photograph shot from the Right Rear side of the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport. The photograph are slightly out of focus, partly due to the limited light that were available in the parking area, but overall I am happy with the outcome of this photograph.
I particularly like the above photograph the angle makes the car look good, the only problem I have with this photograph serves as a lesson to me at the same time. "I must remember to take a cleaning cloth with when shooting these type of shots, there is a lot of bugs on the road, and bugs on the car does not make the photograph look as good as it should!"
Again the Bugs on the grill of the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport slightly spoiled this image, I could go and Photoshop this photograph to remove all the bugs from it, but I decided to publish these Lexus Is 350 F-Sport images without editing them in Photoshop. The red light at the top back provided some nice ambience for the shot, and overall I am happy with how this photograph came out.
I was surprised at how good the above photograph came out, again I were playing with the Parking Area background, building on the Lexus Advertisements but I also wanted to capture the aerodynamics of the car, and show the perfect lines in a photograph. I believe this photograph captures the effect perfectly, and one can see the lines and curves that makes this car so stunning!
When you look at a car you may not always go into all the details of the car, if the car looks good it is likely that you will like it without considering the finer things. The Lexus IS 350 F-Sport breaking lights is one such thing that I haven't paid to much attention to, that is until I saw the above photograph. The Rear lights does not only look stunning but it also serves an very important purpose, to warn drivers behind you that you are breaking or indicating that you are going to turn. The way that Lexus designed these lights are not only "Eye pleasing" but it is big enough for people behind you to clearly see what your intentions are, adding to the over-all looks and safety of the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport.
I also like the way that the "Red Lights" in the parking are reflected on the back of the car and how I purposely included the IS 350 logo and some of the parking area, to build on the advertising theme of Lexus.
This is for the boys and mechanics who would like to see what is under the hood of the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport. As the name suggests the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine. It produce 306 horsepower with 277 lb-ft of torque.

Here is another Close-up Photograph of the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport 3.5-liter V6 engine taken from the side.
And another closer close-up of the front of the engine. Lexus have done a good job, beautifying the engine, and covering the nasty engine part with a plastic cover featuring a prominent Lexus badge on the Engine cover.
The Lexus wheel configuration and engineering provides for an interesting look, almost a parallax error making the rear wheels seem larger than they are, and the illusion of a lower center of gravity. The interesting design concept add to the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport looks and gives the perception of good traction. All in all the Lexus engineers have done amazing things to the car, to make it look exceptional, by looking through the camera at the car and focusing on the details make all these enhancements stand out even more!
In the photographs above and below you can view the wheel configurations of the Lexus IS 350 and the Lexus Mags which also enhances the sporty look of the car.
Talking about Tires, the Lexus is fitted with a spare tire. In the photograph below you can see the spare tire fitted into the boot of the car. The spare tire is smaller than the normal tires and should get you to the nearest tire replacement center should one of your tires go flat. The Lexus spare tire is cleverly fitted into the boot of the car, and is designed in such a way to provide you with the convenience of ample boot space and the peace of mind that you have a spare tire.
One of the things that surprised me about the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport was it's boot space. The Lexus IS 350 F-Sport boot space seems to be bigger than most other cars in the same segment as the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport, and I could easily fit all my camera equipment, tripods and a suite case into the back of the car.
I have a passion for photography more than what I have for cars. Usually when I get a car to test drive I usually like the Photography part of the assignment more than the car, but in the case of the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport I enjoyed the driving of the car far more. I proud myself being bias towards German Made Cars but the Lexus IS 350 is having me seriously considering trading in my German Manufactured car for this monster.
Viewing and Photographing the car from all viewpoints made for some good looking photos, in the above photograph I shot the left rear side of the car again loving the lines and curves of the car.
Image of the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport on the open road. We also shot several videos of the Lexus IS 350 F-Sport during our Testing of the Car, the above is a still photograph of the Lexus IS 350 taken from my car during the video shoot.
