Google Maps and Google Street View
Google Street View is a technology featured in Google Maps and Google Earth that provides panoramic views from positions along many streets in the world. It was launched in 2007 in several cities in the United States, and has since expanded to include cities and rural areas worldwide. Streets with Street View imagery available are shown as blue lines on Google Maps.
Google Street View displays panoramas of stitched images. Most photography is done by car, but some is done by trekker, tricycle, walking, boat, snowmobile, and underwater apparatus.
Google Street View and Google Cardboard
Google have made it possible to use Google Street View with Google Cardboard. This allows people to view the Google Street View images in immersive virtual reality. VR users can view the images in 360° degrees, look up and down, left and right and experience it almost as if they were there.
Google Trusted Photographers
Recently Google launched their Google Trusted Photographers program. This program allows Google Trusted Photographers to publish business images into Google Maps which are then included into Google Maps and Google Street view. Businesses can now utilize this, and get Google Trusted Photographers to film their business, hotel or infrastructure and upload it to Google. Research done by Google and independent researchers showed that having your business filmed and included into Google Maps and Google Street view offers several advantages. According to the research more people will see your business if it has a Google Street view since Google is likely to promote such business in their search engines to a higher position.
